LA TALACHA 2026-PRES.
Esta serie nace de la observación de los oficios que dan vida a las calles de México. Taqueros, tortilleras, marchantes, vendedores de globos, jugueteros y comerciantes ambulantes forman parte del paisaje cotidiano y de la memoria colectiva del país. A través de estas pinturas busco rendir homenaje a mujeres y hombres cuyo trabajo, muchas veces transmitido de generación en generación, preserva tradiciones, sostiene la vida diaria y da identidad a nuestros espacios públicos.
La materialidad de las obras también forma parte de este discurso. El uso de soportes como cajas de puros reutilizadas y lienzo en crudo evoca lo cotidiano y lo popular, estableciendo un vínculo entre el material y los personajes representados. Con una pintura figurativa de colores vibrantes, la serie invita a redescubrir México a través de su gente, reconociendo la dignidad y el valor cultural de quienes mantienen vivo el corazón de nuestras calles.
This series stems from the observation of the trades and occupations that bring Mexico’s streets to life. Taco vendors, tortilla makers, market vendors, balloon sellers, toy vendors, and street merchants are all part of the country’s everyday landscape and collective memory. Through these paintings, I seek to pay tribute to the women and men whose work—often passed down through generations—preserves traditions, sustains daily life, and shapes the identity of our public spaces.
The materiality of each piece is also an essential part of the series. By using supports such as repurposed cigar boxes and raw canvas, the works evoke the ordinary and the familiar, creating a dialogue between the material itself and the people it portrays. Through vibrant figurative painting, the series invites viewers to rediscover Mexico through its people, recognizing the dignity and cultural value of those who keep the heart of its streets alive.
